Countless rock engravings and frescoes abound here with a vivid testimony of the dark times when these remote places were far more hospitable to mankind.

Day 3 - El Beridj – Moul N’Aga

Today, your tent will be pitched at Moul Naga. Take time to sit on a dune to contemplate this beautiful gift of nature.

Day 4 - Moul N’Aga – In Djaren – Tin Merzouga

Going on at the same pace, we drive along the great canyon of In Djaren, an open sky museum, and home to a fabulous rock art treasure with several frescoes representing animals of various types. We will get through a rocky maze as we proceed to Tin Merzouga, the pearl of the Tadrart area which culminates at 1300 meters. For those who can bear a 45 mns climb, the 360-degree view is really worth the challenge. From here the views on the horizon are really fascinating at sunset. Dinner and camping overnight at Tin Merzouga

Day 5 - Tin Merzouga – In Djaren – In Djelati

Like every morning, we will have a short walk to get soaked into the intense silence, provided by the surreal dimension of the desert immensity. Boarding our vehicles, we drive along a river bed where rare vegetation could grow here from the last floods. We will reach the huge arches of Tamezguida then explore the fantastic In Djaren which houses a great rock art collection. Our camp is set at the exit limits of In Djaren for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - In Djelati – Tikoubaouine

Leaving Tadrart we get to another key moment of our journey as we pass by an intriguing pre-islamic tomb. We will have a drive through an asphalt road, along the cliffs of Timghas as far as the high sand dunes of Erg Admer to the west where nature, in these saharan extreme climatic conditions, have shaped some amazing rock arches. Tonight dinner and overnight at Tikoubaouine.

Day 7 - Tikoubaouine – Essendiline – Erg Admer

After breakfast, we have a little stroll in Tikoubaouine where the sand seems to take over the rock as the dune line willingly lean against the rocks that the winds have eroded over the millenia. We pursue our journey with a drive towards the Essendilene area, considered a true peace haven in the Tassili N‘Ajjer Park. Here, we have to walk the last few miles through a narrow canyon, deeply embedded in sandstone cliffs. In a hushed and colorful atmosphere, this hidden path opens on a stunning pond. Perfectly sheltered by the rock, the emerald-coloured water point is still there even with a long-lasting drought. Our camp is set for the night close to the dunes of Erg Admer.

Day 8 - Erg Admer – Dider (Tin Teghert) – Idaren – Iherir

Today, we begin the climb up to the black arid plateau, stopping at the ponds of Assar before reaching the great site of Dider, well-known for its awesome pre-historic art works. These are paintings and engravings of giraffes, antelopes, oryx, rhinos and oxen … with expressive patterns, all belonging to man‘s far obscure times. A big evidence of the wet periods in these immense regions oft he world before the process of desertification. A great opportunity for archeology afficionados whilst we explore the site of In Tahadeft and the cave of Tider. Dinner and overnight on the dunes in Tasset.

Day 9 - Iherir – Tagharghart – Djanet

Leaving Tasset, we head to Iherir, a small oasis with old typical saharan huts made of stone walls and palm leaf roofs, then enjoy the views on the balconies of Idaren and the ponds of Iherir.
